The Institute of these Catholic Religious Women is of missionary origin, founded in the year 1937 by the late Irish missionary Archbishop Charles Heerey Cssp in Nigeria. They were founded for the main purpose of caring for the sick in hospitals and dispensaries, care of women and children especially the vulnerable ones and the poor. In a bid to carry out the foundation mandate, Immaculate Heart of Mary Mission Hospital Kilimambogo offers health services to the mainly poor surrounding communities of Thika East Sub-County of Kiambu County and Matungulu Sub-County of Machakos County with special attention to the poor and vulnerable who form majority of the population.
